For a while now, Wolé and Tobi have been reflecting on the importance they attach to material possessions.
Wolé's thoughts on materialism began recently when a life transition made him question the number of clothes he needs.
Tobi's thoughts have been more mature, stemming from his longstanding view that he places little importance on material things that don't serve a functional purpose.
They sit down to discuss the origin of their materialistic tendencies, albeit to varying degrees. They question the reasons behind our consumption habits and why we are likely to own more than we use. They debate whether materialism can be good or bad, and explore how it extends beyond objects.
Of course, much of their conversation also highlights their hypocrisy. After all, they both own material objects that are only "nice to have" and are not essential for their survival.
So, can we truly escape materialism?
We'll let you answer that.

This episode contains explicit language from clips we included from the film.
##
In our first-ever #cinematherapy episode, we dive into “Marriage Story”, an amazing movie starring Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson.
We dissect scenes and themes in the film that reflect our current topic of discussion about premarital fears and the apprehension of divorce.
We picked and loved this story because it touches on the real-life struggles of managing a marriage that is falling apart and the personal costs associated with it.
Enjoy the listen!

In this episode, Wolé and Tobi sit down to really talk about some premarital fears they have. While they both share the same desire to settle down one day 🤞🏾, their paths towards that destination are quite different 🛣️.Part of what drives this difference is that Wolé has premarital fears that Tobi can’t relate to, and Tobi has premarital fears that Wolé is still trying to understand. This conversation kicks off the 9th season of the podcast 🎉 and Wole and Tobi hope listening to this inspires you to kickstart a similar conversation with your closest and dearest 💛.

S8E10 - Confronting Financial Anxiety
Sep 12, 2022
Sep 12, 2022
1hr 34 min
Let’s not even lie, things are currently peak moneywise.
The reality of rising prices, economic downturns, and recessions are all terrible stressors that can have a negative impact on our well-being and livelihood.
As if that’s not enough, the news constantly bombards us with unstable economic conditions, and this can create negative emotions of anxiety and stress.
Even though difficult economic times affect everyone one way or another, young adults are more likely to be hit worse than older adults. Many of us are having to work our way up financially against many odds, some harder than others.
And so in our final episode of the season, we were joined by @xoreni, host of the @dontgobroketrying podcast, to break down how we can manage financial stress and anxiety that follows during tough times.
Together, we explored how we can better navigate the difficult economic times ahead. And Reni shared some practical financial tips on how we can prepare for recessions and economic downturns in general.
We enjoyed every second of the chat with Reni and our conversation ended up being a perfect blend of entertaining and educational.
Reni’s a top guest and she has some quality content we know you folks would love as well, so please check out her page and podcast using any of the links below ✨

S8E9 - Sliding vs Deciding
Sep 5, 2022
Sep 5, 2022
1hr 52 min
Love, education, career, religion, & friendship.
These five areas are strong pillars that have shaped many of us and shaped who we are becoming. In fact, many of us believe that winning to some degree in these five categories is what makes a good, successful, or happy life.
Looking beneath the surface, however, presents us with the question of how decisions about matters relating to those different categories are made. To what extent do we fall into (slide) or actively choose (decide) what we studied in school, the careers we've chosen, the relationships we've pursued, and the faith we practise?
Although "sliding vs deciding" is a term primarily associated with cohabitation, we took this concept of sliding or deciding further into key areas of our lives in this episode. To what extent are we deciding what’s best and to what extent are we sliding our way forwards?
Given that we’re approaching the end of what typically marks “youth”, it’s the best time to reflect on both the decisions and indecisions that made us who we are today.
Enjoy the listen!
